H.4150 An Act making appropriations for the fiscal year 2025 to provide for supplementing certain existing appropriations and for certain other activities and projects.
On May 21, 2025 I voted YES on H.4150, which provided supplemental funding for various state services including veterans services, education, health and human services, public safety and security, housing and livable communities, aging and various others.
There were three amendments adopted as part of H.4150 - below is how I voted in each.
Amendment #61 (148 Y - 1 N), this amendment offered by Rep. Alice Peisch (D-Wellesley) and Rep. Frank Moran (D-Lawrence) codifies protections and practices ensuring that special education students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who are also English learners in Massachusetts are protected— regardless of a potential federal shift in guidelines or regulations.
I voted YES on this amendment.
Amendment #27, (151 Y – 0 N), this amendment offered by Rep. David Rogers (D-Cambridge) updates the Fire Arms Modernization Act to include post certified law enforcement officers serving at private colleges and universities in the exemption that allows members of law enforcement to carry certain firearms.
I voted YES on this amendment.
Consolidated Amendment A (149 Y – 1 N), this amendment includes additional supplemental funding, including $1,000,000 for the Fair Housing Fund, which was sponsored by Rep. David Rogers (D-Cambridge) and co-sponsored by me Rep. Mark Sylvia (D-Fairhaven) Rep. Chris Hendricks (D-New Bedford), Rep. Chris Markey (D-Dartmouth) and Rep. Tony Cabral (D-New Bedford) in support of Fair Housing legal assistance. Rep. Hendricks, Rep. Markey, Rep. Cabral and I have been working closely with Southcoast Fair Housing to address the elimination of federal funding for these important services.
I voted YES on this amendment.
The supplemental budget passed the House of Representatives 149-1 and now goes to the Senate for its consideration.
