Mark Sylvia

I grew up in our district and have raised my family here – the person I am, my life experiences, my family, all of us, are a reflection of the generations of hard-working people that make up the 10th Bristol District. Our communities are strong and unwavering in our commitment to doing the right thing, supporting each other, embracing our diversity and making things better for everyone.

All that I learned growing up here has driven me to help others, to be an advocate, to improve our quality of life. Every morning I wake up focused on fighting for our district – for our schools, for our fishing and agriculture industries, for our small businesses, for our seniors, for our towns and our city, for the environment, for access to quality healthcare, to protect our basic rights, and for transportation.

Since taking office, I have carried that focus onto the committees and into the issues that matter most to our communities. I serve on the Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources and the House Committee on Climate Action and Sustainability, advancing the environmental protection and clean energy priorities so central to our coastal district, and on the Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development, working to create good jobs for our residents. I also serve on the House Committee on Federal Funding, Policy, and Accountability, making sure federal resources are put to responsible use here at home. Beyond my committee work, I have joined the caucuses that reflect who we are- the Coastal and Boating Caucuses to stand up for our maritime economy, the Food Security Caucus to fight hunger, the Gateway Cities Caucus to expand opportunity, and the Portuguese Heritage and Irish American Caucuses that honor the heritage of so many of our families.

I am ready to continue this work with my dedication to and love for our communities. I am guided by you, my constituents, and informed by my state, municipal, and private sector experience and the relationships I have built throughout my life.
